If it is broken and no longer able to be reused, and if it's a flat screen TV you can take it to Metalco, free of charge.

If it's a CRT TV, the only place to take it is either Jukes or Waste Management at cost.

If broken and no longer fit for reuse, you can take any electrical appliance to the metal recyclers free of charge: Metalco & Metal Solutions. The only parts that will be recycled will be the metal parts, so remove as much of the hard plastic casing & accessories as possible. Cables can be left on.

If your appliance is battery operated (such as stick vacuum cleaners), please don't take it to the metal recyclers; rather, bring it in to us. The housing and hard plastic can be disposed of in the rubbish.

Anything metal can also go to Daryl Gowers, who collects funds for Hospice Tairāwhiti. He offers a pick-up service for a small fee.

If it is EXPOL insulation, you can take it for free at the Mitre 10 Gisborne store.

You can’t recycle other types of polystyrene in Gisborne. Consider taking it with you if you are travelling out of town. Hawke’s Bay option is Henderson Road Transfer Station. Bay of Plenty options can be found here.
